SUITED UP IN NAVY BLUE FOR SUMMER GRADUATION

SUITED UP IN NAVY BLUE FOR SUMMER GRADUATION
Graduation is the celebration of academic success after years of hard work. Last week Wednesday was my graduation day. It was fun and a little bit emotional at the same time. Having said that, I actually enjoyed every moment of it. Traditionally, graduation at Teesside University has always been a November thing. However, with a new vice-chancellor; this years graduation ceremony was moved from November to July, making it the first graduation ceremony to be held during the summer season.

For such a big day, looking smart and dapper is very important as you will be meeting different people including families, friend, and friends of friends. Moreover, it is an opportunity for making contacts that could potentially be useful when it comes to employment or other post graduate aspirations.
Being a summer event,  wearing something comfortable and less heavy to avoid getting too warm underneath the gradaution gown is a good idea. You can never go wrong with a nice white tailored shirt and dark coloured trousers. However, suiting up is still the norm when it comes to looking smart on your graduation day. Therefore, in keeping with the smart norm I wore a 42R navy blue slim fit suit jacket with  matching trousers (Regular size). The suit jacket was purchased in store, however it took a bit of deligent online search to get the trouser to match the suit. With this blue outfit I wore a white slim fit shirt.

Accessories -wise, I picked a dark blue silk tie to complement the look. To add a bit of professional edge to my look, I paired the outfit with brown leather loafers. Although traditionally casual and informal, loafers; according to GQ magazine, now have a dressier silhouette that makes them work with a suit. One good thing about loafers is that you can have them in suede and leather depending on your preference. The lustrous and glossy finish makes leather a perfect choice for a smart look. On the other hand, Suede loafers are more delicate and are not as rugged compared to their leather counterpart. Nevertheless, their luxurious look makes them irresistible and an ideal summer foot wear.
